Those who are able, tend to journey directly to their destination, usually by private aviation means. This ensures the most efficient use of their time, along with safe and discrete transfers. The journey may involve a ground-based vehicle or helicopter and private aircraft. Noise, operational running costs and safety concerns can restrict the use of these for residences and other places of origin.
A new generation of aircraft, electric Vertical Take-off and Landing craft (eVTOL) is now emerging, heralding a new age in human air mobility, an AirvolutionTM.
VRCO LTD, a Midlands-based aviation company, is developing a hyper-luxury variant, the NeoXcraft. This will initially carry two people (180Kg) at very high speeds in absolute safety and luxury.
The craft has been designed and engineered with multiple redundant safety systems, a suite of sensors to assist pilots and also to detect and avoid objects. It features a whole craft steerable ballistic parachute system in the unlikely event of total power failure or multiple engine failures. It is also designed to land on the water, making it very versatile and unique, an ideal tender for superyacht owners with a sustainability mindset.
The University of Derby performed the initial feasibility and power optimisation studies in 2017. The range of the craft was projected at 75 miles, with a 25-minute recharge time. VRCO will improve on this with recent battery developments. Capable of speeds of up to 180 knots, 210 mph or 333 kph it will whisk you directly to your destination.
The craft can assist pilots with auto take off, auto transition, dynamic route planning and auto landing capabilities which provide the foundations for autonomous flight in the future.
The craft is scheduled to be commercially available following certification in 2020 with a very limited production run of 44 units. These can be secured today with the acquisition of a build slot, which secures one of these exclusive crafts. Interest is high for these coveted slots.
